Acetamiprid is a chloropyridinyl neonicotinoid insecticide that is widely used in agricultural areas and has been the subject of increasing environmental concern worldwide. In the present work,a novel bacterial strain,DY-17,which utilizes acetamiprid as its sole source of carbon and nitrogen, was isolated from rice paddy soils.Through study of physiological and biochemical properties,as well as 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, the bacterial strain was identified as a species of Pseudomonas. The characteristics of acetamiprid degradation by strain DY-17 and the metabolic pathways involved were studied in a liquid culture.
