  The new green iron-making process by iron-bath smelting reduction with C and H2 reduction agents has received significant attention in recent years.The CFD software Fluent 6.3 is used to simulate the stirring behavior caused by immersion Side-blowing since the stirring effect in the iron-bath smelting reduction furnace is one of main concerns in the iron-making process development.In addition the VOF and standard turbulence models are also applied in this mathematical simulation in order to solve the problems in multi-phase flow simulation.The results of mathematical simulation shows that stirring effect in iron-bath furnace grows quickly with the increasing of total side-blowing flow rate of all submerged side nozzles when they are arranged in the same horizontal plane and even increase more rapidly when some submerged side nozzles are placed in the deeper horizontal plane at same total side immersion flow rate.Comparing mathematical simulation results and the results from water model experiments it has been proven that the stirring effect in iron-bath furnace can be determined by mathematical simulation.
