Bio-oil is obtained easily by fast pyrolysis of biomass or by high pressure liquefaction.However,bio-oil cannot be used as transportation fuels directly due to their high water content and strong acidity.The quality of bio-oil need to be improved by partial or total elimination of the acid and water contained in bio-oil.The aim of this study is to develop an approach for bio-oil upgrading over the inexpensive non-sulfided Ni-based catalysts supported on basic carriers(MgO,MgO-Al2O3 and MgO/SBA-15)in supercritical ethanol.These catalysts were characterized by H2-TPR,H2-TPD,CO2-TPD,XRD,SEM and N2 physical adsorption technologies.And the activity of catalysts was evaluated in the upgrading process of bio-oil in supercritical ethanol.
