Upper urinary tract transitional cell carcinomas account for 10％ of all renal tumors and 5％ of all urothelial malignancies.Radical nephroureterectomy with excision of the ipsilateral periureteral cuff of bladder is the gold standard operative method for patients with upper urinary tract transitional cell carcinoma.However, around 45-56％ of the patients who received RNU will have pathological stage ≥ T2 disease, and up to one-third of patients will have tumor recurrence in 5 years.Therefore, surgery alone is not inadequate for these patients.Adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with high-risk upper urinary tract transitional carcinoma (UTUC) is widely accepted.Several contemporary studies have mentioned a decline in renal function after RNU.The loss of renal function after RNU renders many patients ineligible for cisplatin-based chemotherapy.In spite of this, most studies focused on the short-term renal function change or post-RNU renal function change.In our current study, we aimed at the long-term renal function change.Our goal was to establish the pattern of renal function after RNU which will offer Urologists to predict the patients long-term renal function outcomes.
