Angelica sinensis is used extensively in the Far East as a blood tonic to "promote circulation and purify blood".It is often combined with other medicinal herbs in composite formulae for the treatments of cardiovascular diseases and gynaecological disorders such as anaemia and endometriosis.Despite different aetioiogies,these diseases share a common angiogenesis feature.Recent literature also suggests immunomodulatory effects of A.sinensis.Here we report our current work in dissecting the angio-and immuno-modulatory properties of this medicinal herb.
