Introduction Chronic Groin Pain (Inguinodynia) following inguinal hernia repair is a significant clinical problem.The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a nerve-recognizing Lichtenstein hernia repair in reducing chronic groin pain and to measure the extra time required for surgery.This prospective study involved 118 elective primary inguinal hernia operations performed on 111 patients at the department of general surgery of Tongji Hospital from April 2011 to April 2012.
