Transflective liquid crystal displays(TR-LCDs)are widely used nowadays in mobile displays, owing to their good sunlight readability and low power consumption. The polymer-stabilized blue-phase LCD(BP-LCD)draws everyone?s attention because of its submillisecond response time reducing motion-image blurs, isotropic dark state leading to a wide and symmetric viewing angle,no need for alignment layers simplifying the fabrication processes, and cell-gap insensitivity contributing to the fabrication of large-screen or single-substrate LCDs.In this talk,we will report the work principle of the TR-BPLCD and some of our recent progresses on single-cell-gap TR-BPLCDs.
