Silicon Nanocrystals (SiNCs), having size less than 10 nm exhibit intriguing properties due to quantum confinement and highly reactive surfaces. The interplay between surface properties and quantum confinement effects may offer greater opportunities for tailoring opto-electronic properties of SiNCs.However, control over surface states still remains challenging as it requires engineering precision and also the highly reactive surface and oxidation process play an important role.
