A chemiresistor electronic nose based on conducting polymers was developed and utilized for differentiating refined, bleached and deodorized (RBD) coconut oil (RBDCO) and rancid VCO.Polyanilne (PANi), polypyrrole (PPy) and poly-3-methylthiophene (P-3MTp), doped with various counter-ions were used as the sensing elements. The conducting polymers were synthesized by potentiostatic polymerization and deposited onto the surface of two gold wire rods, and an optimum conditioning potential was applied to the deposited polymers prior to exposure in the coconut oil samples.
