Cardiovascular disease remains the number one cause of death in the world.Molecular study of heart disease will help us to understand the abnormal cardiac growth and give us better prevention and diagnosis.Geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase (GGPPS) catalyzes the synthesis of GGPP, an important molecule responsible for the C20-prenylated protein biosynthesis and binding to the membrane. It has been reported that the mRNA level of GGPPS is high in the heart. However, little is known about the role of GGPPS in the mammalian heart.
