Thin aluminum sheets may be used as a leakage barrier liner for LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) containment system because of its easy machining without nil ductility temperature.However, thin aluminum sheets should be adhesively joined because adhesive joints distribute the load over a large area compared to mechanical joining.To construct reliable adhesion systems for cryogenic applications, the fracture toughness of adhesion system should be improved because polymeric adhesives become very brittle at the cryogenic temperature.
