A sandwich structure was designed and fabricated based on carbon fiber reinforced polytriazole skins bonded to an aerogel core for an effective combination of structural-functional integration. The effects of reinforced fibers and diameter of aerogel on heat insulation were analyzed and back wall temperature experiment and mechanical behavior of the sandwich structure was performed. The results showed that an aerogel layer played an important role in the thermal insulation performance. The compression strength of aerogel sandwich composites was 3.74MPa.
