Introduction: Caveolae are cholesterol enriched plasma membrane flask-shaped invaginations and has been regarded as a regulator of intracellular Ca2+concentration([Ca2+]i)signaling.We have previously found that the number of caveolae were increased significantly in pulmonary artery smooth muscle cell(PASMC)in pulmonary hypertension(PH)models and the increase in caveolae expression in PH contribute to the enhanced agonist-induced pulmonary arteries(PAs)contraction via receptor-operated Ca2+channels(ROCC)in PASMCs.
