We discuss the problem of sensor placement in feedback stabilization of a thermal fluid described by the Boussinesq equations.This problem is motivated by the design and operation of low energy consumption buildings.We apply the MinMax compensator design to obtain a reduced-order observer for state estimation based on the geometric structure of feedback functional gains.A two dimensional problem is employed to illustrate the theoretical and numerical results.
