Thiolated DNA self assembled monolayers(SAMs)on gold substrates are a common platform for studies in biosensors.One of such bioanalysis strategies takes advantage of the fact that the position of the DNA in respect to the surface(i.e.its conformation)can be controlled by modifying the potential of the substrate due to the negatively charged phosphate backbone of the nucleic acid.
