Numerous candidate genes of essential hypertension (EH) were studied in recent years; however, the pathological mechanism of this polygenetic and multifactorial disease needs further study.Human CYP4F2,expressed mainly in kidney and liver, contribute to the blood pressure homeostasis and the pathogenesis of hypertension through their arachidonic acid metabolites,20-HETE (20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid) and EETs (epoxyeicosatrienoic acids).Using the methods of DNA sequencing and PCR-RFLP,we genotyped the rSNPs (regulatory single nucleotide polymorphisms) of CYP4F2 gene in 271 EH patients and 277 control subjects in an isolate population from North China.
