Subdivision schemes that are defined by a certain type of piecewise smooth nonlinear rules can be analized using the theory of generalized gradients. We shall revisit de general theory and demonstrate its aplicacbility and limitations on two new classes of subdivision schemes based on the use on nonlinear(weighted)averages.
