NSII(National Specimen Information Infrastructure,http://www.nsii.org.cn/)is one of the 23 national platforms certified by Ministry of Science and Technology,China.There are more than 10 million specimen records of in the field of animal,plant and geology.It consists of 6 sub-platforms supported by more than 120 institutes,universities,botanical gardens or museums.Besides specimen data,this portal also contains name checklist,color photos,scientific literatures and gazetteer.The number of each dataset is more than one million.Currently,it is the largest portal in the field of biodiversity research.Furthermore,it had good cooperation with other international biodiversity projects,such as Species 2000,GBIF(Global Biodiversity Information Facility),BHL(Biodiversity Heritage Libary),EOL(Encyclopedia of Life)and so on.
