Some common sense statements about the interaction of colloidal nanoparticles with cells are given [1]. While detail of this interaction strongly depends on the precise properties of the nanoparticles, the type of cells, conditions of incubation, etc. still some basic universal common sense dependences exist, which will be outlined [2]. In general small, elongated, positively charged, soft particles are incorporated in vitro by cells to a higher extend than big, flat, negatively charged, stiff particles.
