Objective To study the development of Channel Tropism theory and explore the probabilities and advantages of using system biology to study the channel tropism from the angle of modern medicine.Methods Based on the theory of channel tropism of traditional Chinese medicine, we analyze the problems with the present study of the channel tropism.Results Channel Tropism is the valuable experience explored and developed from long-term clinic practice.It s found that Channel tropism theory and modern system biology thought have similarity of holistic viewpoint.Systems biology could provide a new platform in the study of Channel Tropism theory.Conclusion Channel Tropism is an important component and one of the core theories of TCM.System biology could provide novel insights into the research and have clear advantage on the studies on Channel Tropism theory.
