Introduction Neurodegenerative diseases have been affecting over 25 million people worldwide.Although there are medicines and therapies, there is still lack of complete treatment of the diseases.Possibility of using tianma, a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), in treating these diseases has been investigated as tianma was shown to offer neuroprotection to neural cells and might become a possible therapeutic agent for neurodegenerative diseases in the future.
