This study was carried out to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation of probiotics on caecal microbial ecology in weaned piglets.One hundred and forty-four piglets of Large White × Landrace,weaned at 35-37 days of age,were selected and divided into four groups,and the piglets from each group were assigned randomly to six pens (replicates) with six animals each.Each group was fed one of four diets for five weeks:a basal diet without antibiotics and probiotics (control),or the basal diet supplemented with 8.6×109 CFU of freeze-dried Lactobacillus plantarum GF13 per kg feed (LB),2.0×108 CFU of freeze-dried B.subtilis B27 per kg feed (BS),or the combination of Lactobacillus plantarum GF103 (4.3×109 CFU/kg) and Bacillus subtilis B27 (1.0×108 CFU/kg) (LBS).
