We focus a monolithic silica as a new sorbent for sample extraction of drugs in biological materials.The monolithic silica disk was prepared and mounted into spin column.In spin column extraction, the handlings such as sample loading, washing, elution of target drugs, were exhibited by only a centrifugation of the spin column.In addition, many samples can be processed at the same time.In this paper, some applications are shown for the extraction of drugs in biological materials by using spin column which was mounted C 18, C 18-SCX mixed mode monolithic silica disk.To find out the characteristics of C18-spin column, amphetamines (APs) in human urine were adsorbed on the spin column with variable pH conditions.(1) The acidic buffer containing sodium octanesulfonate was adopted for the extraction because the affinity of APs was week and the recovery was decreased after washing with the basic buffer.The linear ranges were 0.2-20 mg/mL for all the tested APs (r2>0.999) at the optimal condition.The recovery of APs and MDMAs in urine was 90-103%, and RSD ranged from 1.8% to 11.6%.The ROD in urine was 0.1 mg/mL for all the tested APs.
