In the present study,a one-dimensional dynamic thermoelastic problem in a functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) thin film subjected to thermal shock is analyzed and an exact solution is obtaioned,assuming that material properties vary exponentially along the thickness direction.It is seen from obtained numerical results that the thermal stress oscillation is unsteady and its amplitude changes considerably as time advances.The maximum amplitude is then about 4.5 times as large as it in the case of a homogeneous thin film.
