At present,application of granular activated carbon(GAC)filtration process has been identified as one of the best available technologies for advanced treatment.However,there are many different kinds of GAC,characteristics and purposes.We herein investigated five adsorption performance of GAC:the iodine value,methylene blue value,humic acid,tannic acid,caramel,and analysised of the correlation between the five indicators and the specific surface area,pore volume,pore size.Taking the water from a reservoir in Ji’nan City as research object,according to the adsorption isotherm tests,we studied the adsorption properties of four kinds of GAC to organic matter in raw water,and found that in the four kinds of GAC,NO.1and 2 GAC had better removal rate for organic matter;while we studied the relativity between adsorption performance of four GAC and the removal rate of organic matter,research shows that:the removal rates of CODMn and DOC are well correlated with iodine value,the coefficient of corre-lations,R2,were 0.8745 and 0.8474respctively;the removal rates of UV254is well correlated with methylene blue value,the correlation coefficient,R2,is0.9454,which provide the basis for the selection of GACo
