The total area of Thailand is about 320 million rai or 51.3 million hectares of which 23.9 million hectares or 46.5％ are agricultural land use.Only 2.1 million hectares or 8.8％ are under horticultural production areas which cover the growing areas for fruit crop, vegetable, flowers and ornamental plants, industrial fruit crop, spices and medicinal plants.Thanks to suitable topographical and climatic conditions, Thailand can produce a variety of horticultural produce all years round, especially tropical Thai fruits which are well-recognized for their exotic, delicious and juicy taste, to name but a few, durian, mango, mangosteen, longan,and rambutan.Different kinds of vegetables, spices and medicinal plants are used as ingredient of genuine Thai cuisine.Besides, cut orchids are also popular among general public and overseas.
