This article is a step toward of understanding the nature of female migrants of Sri Lanka.The objective of this paper is to enclose the female migration patterns and to seek the plight of the migrants women in Sri Lanka.The theoretical background of Sri Lankan migrants has discussed as first and devoted the attention to explore the socio-cultural background of the target group next.Utilizing the statistical dsta issued by Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment,has examined the status of male/female workers who working in overseas since 2001-2005 in the third step.According to the statistical data and the reports issued by the institutions linked with foreign employment we found the Middles East has been more effective for the Sri Lankan migrants.Accordingly,our objective is to examine the reasons for departures to the Middle East countries.Generally,female migrants in overseas have been facing a high levels of exploitation,physical and emotional abuses and sexual harassments.Hence,our specific attention,focused to identify the responsibility of the government,their current policies and what kind of policies and programs should introduced to enhance the social security of migrant women.According to our findings of the research we have suggested some programs to improve the life quality and social security of the migrant women and their family members.The data from 2000-2005 on migration issued by Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment has used and as well as conducted the literature survey in this study.
