Enterovirus 71 (EV71) has played an important role in hand-foot-mouth disease.1,2 In this presentation,a series of diarylhydrazide analogues were designed and synthesized.A systematic exploration of SAR led to potent enterovirus inhibitors,in which the lead compound 15 represents significant improvements in inhibition potency with lower EC50 value of 0.016 μM against EV71 than the anti-enterovirus reference drug enviroxime.
