Nickel nanoparticles(Ni NPs)were successfully synthesized in sodium borosilicate(Na2O-B2O3-SiO2)glass by sol-gel method and heat treatment in hydrogen gas(H2),involving metallic sodium as sodium source, boric acid as boron source and the silica component comes from hydrolysis of tetraethoxysilane. The feasibility of processing conditions were analyzed by fourier transform infrared(FT-IR),different thermal gravimetric analysis(TG-DTA)and BET analysis of N2 adsorption aperture.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM)studies were applied to reveal the microstructure of Ni NPs formed in the glass. The nonlinear optical properties of the glass were studied by Z-scan technique with a Ti:Sapphire laser at 800 nm.Finally the formation mechanism ofNi NPs doped glass was proposed.
