Recently, one of the most common and damaging soilborne diseases of melon (Cucumis melo L.) is Monospororascus root rot and vine decline (MRR/VD).In order to manage this soilborne pathogen, melons have been grafted onto Cucurbita rootstocks. However, the reduction of the fruit quality has been reported to be caused by preharvest internal decay or breakdown and physiological disorders such as vitrescence in fruit flesh, when melons were grafted onto vigorous Cucurbita rootstocks.
