The Baculoviridae are a family of enveloped, double-stranded, circular DNA viruses, their genome range in size fi om 80 to 180 kilobasepairs (kbp).Baculoviruses are specifically infectious to invertebrates, and most of the known viruses of this group were isolated from insect species, especially those from Lepidoptera, Diptera, and Hymenoptera.Baculoviruses are wildly used as bio-safe insecticides, for foreign genes expression and display, and for transducing mammalian cells.
