  In this paper, N,N-Dimethylacrylamide(DMA), glycidyl methacrylate(GMA)and Hexafluoro-butyl methacrylate (HFBMA) were used to prepare highlyhydrophobic copolymer.The product was characterized by IR and 1HNMR.Polyvinyl-alcohol (PVA) hydrogel was modified by coating with this highly hydrophobic copolymer.The properties of the modified PVA hydrogel were measured and the results showed that the hydrophobicity of PVA hydrogel surface was significantly improved, while the moisture content and visible light transmittance was basically unchanged.This new kind of PVA hydrogel can be used as the raw material for the optical center of the artificial cornea.
