In recent years, Molecular Biochemical Engineering (MolBioChE) has been proposed and is receiving great attention as a new field.It is based on traditional Biochemical Engineering discipline and integrates frontier sciences and technologies of molecular biology, systems biology and synthetic biology, molecular signal transduction, molecular chemistry, chemical engineering science, and so on.MolBioChE is providing a new platform for achieving highly efficient bioprocesses.In this presentation, MolBioChE approaches are demonstrated for achieving higher productivity of valuable bioactive metabolites in microbial fermentation, mushroom and plant cell cultures.Examples include valuable plant secondary metabolite production by cell cultures of Taxus chinensis and Panax ginseng, validamycin A (or called jinggangmycin) production by fermentation of Streptomyces bygroscopicus, antitumor ganoderic acid production by liquid cultivation of Ganoderma lucidum, etc.
