Biological lipids, such as those that make up the cell membrane have a wide range of self-assembly behaviour which can be exploited for both biophysical studies and the fabrication of nanoscale biomaterials. This work demonstrates how the self-assembly behaviour on the nanoscale can be tuned to produce soft, biocompatible materials with tailored structures.
