The paper demonstrates a numerical evaluation of strains and deflections measured on steel suspension bridge in Kirjalansalmi in Finland (see Fig.1) to obtain the estimation of structures fatigue life. The software developed in VTT calculates also weights, speeds and positions of passing vehicles from the measured data (Hakola et al.2012).The fatigue life prediction method uses pre-calculated stress ranges spectra in all joints from the finite element model calibrated to the results of test loads (Hakola & M/ikinen 2009).Since the calculations run directly on the computer collecting strain gauges and deflections measurements, the amount of data to be transported to the central database could be reduced significantly. The on-site computer is also configured as web-server and the fatigue life results are automatically updated on its web-page daily. However, the most computationally demanding part is the stress-ranges evaluation that iterates the whole history of strain measurement dating back to 2011.
