  The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of the discussion with picture books on the self-esteem and prosocial behaviors of preschoolers.It was to investigate factors which had significant effects on their self-esteem and prosocial behaviors critical for the sound emotional development and personal relationships in the early childhood: The subjects were 30 preschoolers who were 5 years old in full and went to I kindergarten in G city,Jeollabukdo.They were divided into two groups,an experimental group and a comparative group.groups.They were given sessions twice a week for 9 weeks from March 14th,2012 to May 10th,2012.Discussions with 18 picture books went out within small As a result,this study demonstrated that the discussions with picture books promoted preschoolers interactions within their peer groups by letting preschoolers express their thoughts and feelings freely and understand not only their emotions and intentions but also others ones.Therefore the discussion with picture books are an effective instructional method to improve the self-esteem and prosocial behaviors of preschoolers
