The catalytic partial oxidation of methane (POM) is a very interesting route for producing syngas and hydrogen.POM in conventional fixed-bed reactors is characteried by hotspots formation near the entrance region caused by the highly exothermic oxidation reactions. This may create marked axial temperature gradients and severe heat management, catalyst deactivation and safety issues. The use of microreactors can help to solve these problems.
