The Chedrina are one of the major groups among the Danioninae, diagnosed by the postcleithrum greatly reduced or absent, and postcleithrum perpendicular to ribs when present.Chedrins are distributed throughout South and Southeast Asia and much of Africa, with Raiamas as the only transoceanic distributed group. To reconstruct the phylogeny of the Chedrina, with focus on African chedrins,a phylogenetic analysis based on 56 morphological characters from 39 taxa was conducted.
