It is,usually called stainless steel,a high alloyed steel with the resistance to atmosphere and chemicalcorrosion. It is characteristic of aesthetic surface and good corrosion resistance,original surface propertieswithout any surface treatment. It is widely used in many aspects.Chromium is the key corrosion resistant element,steels do not corrode with the Crcontent over 10.5%.Stainless steels are sorted into austenitic,ferritic and martensitic based on their grain structures. Ferriticstainless steel is magnetic containing Cr and small amount of Ni. Ferritic stainless steel is characteristic ofcorrosion resistance (not sensitive to chloride stress corrosion),Mechanical and Physical Properties (yieldstrength 46-98MPa higher than Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steel),thermal conductivity which is 20-30% higherthan austenitic stainless steel,magnetic,low linear expansion,nice weldability and workability(less workhardening and good formability).
