A series of nanosized transition-metal oxides such as CoO[1,2],NiO[3],Co3O4[4,5],SnO2[6],CuO[7] which exhibit reversible capacities about three times larger than graphite(372 mAh·g-1) are considered as alternatives to carbon to improve capacity and energy density[8].Among these materials,cobalt oxides(CoO and Co3O4) demonstrated the good electrochemical properties as lithium-storage materials.Recently,some spinel cobalt-based oxides MCo2O4(M=Ni[1],Cu[10],Mg[11],Zn[12])were investigated as Li-ion battery anode materials.where one Co atom in Co3O4 was replaced by cheaper and more eco-friendly metal M.
