Laser-ablated tungsten atoms have been codeposited at 4K with hydrogen sulfide in excess argonand neon, respectively. The tungstenatoms can insert into the S-H bond of hydrogen sulfide to form the HWSH,H2WS,and H2W(SH)2 molecules, which were identified on the basis of the D2S and H234S isotopic substitutions together with B3LYP functional calculations.Interestingly, novel C3v structure product H3W(SH)3 has also been isolated in solid neon matrix.
