Magnetic properties and geochemistry of loess-paleosol sequences are widely used for paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental construction in the Chinese Loess Plateau (CLP).But there are still few detailed studies about soil color on CLP.Here we present highresolution magnetic susceptibility and soil color records from two loess-paleosol sections (Chaona section and Lihuacun section) on the central and southern Chinese Loess Plateau,respectively.Based on the comparison with loess-paleosol of the two sections,we discuss the possible mechanisms and reasons of the temporal and spatial variations of magnetic susceptibility and soil color.The records reveal a remarkable alternate fluctuation of magnetic susceptibility and soil color in time,following the alternates of loess and paleosol.
