Determination for the Binary System of Stearic Acid and Palmitic Acid by Differential Scanning Calor

  As a powerful thermal analysis method,differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) has been widely used for the determination of varieties thermodynamics and kinetics parameters,such as specific heat,reaction heat,phase diagram,crystallization rate and so on[1,2].Due to the advantages of instrument durability and affordable price at vary wide temperature ranges,many studies focused on to draw the multi-component phase diagram using DSC [3,4] In this paper,stearic acid,palmitic acid and their binary mixtures were investigated by DSC at a heating and cooling rate of 10 K / min.According to the different components of the DSC characteristic curves,solid-liquid phase diagram was obtained and showed in Figure 1,and the minimum eutectic point of stearic acid and palmitic acid binary system was successfully established.
