Sharp increase in economic power changed Japan’s international status In only 30 years, Japan emerged from the horizon of the East and became a formidable super-economic power. In 1964, Japan joined the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as a turning point in the ranks of the industrialized countries in the world.
