On October 8, the traumatic region of Kashmir was hitched by a natural catastrophe: a rare 7.6-magnitude earthquake in a century. Rescuers estimate the death toll may exceed 80,000, according to the United Nations estimates, the affected population exceeded 4 million. Pakistan suffered most of the disaster and India suffered a fair amount of damage. After the earthquake, Chinese leaders sent condolences to Pakistani and Indian leaders and quickly decided to provide Pakistan with a total of 6.2 million U.S. dollars in emergency relief assistance. A total of 49 people, including earthquake experts, medical staff, search and rescue workers, arrived in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on the afternoon of October 9. Other countries have also provided a lot of humanitarian aid. While sympathizing with the region and actively providing assistance, the international community hopes that the earthquake will become a peaceful opportunity for India and Pakistan to solve the Kashmir issue.
