自1983年9月起,上海海洋预报区台正式发布东海近海区的温盐预报,为水产、科研部门的100多个单位提供服务。一年来,用户纷纷来函来电,普遍认为使用我们的预报收到了明显的经济效益并提出了一些希望,下面摘录部分来信。如下: 浙江省三门县水产局:“一年来,我们根据你台发布的海洋水文气象预报资料,结合历年的生产经验,对于分析、掌握中心渔场,安排生产船只,指导我县的渔业生产,促进我县渔业生产的发展,起了很大的作用。一九八四年上半年,我县渔业生产与一九八三年同期比,平均单产增产122％。虽然渔业生产上的增产需考虑多种因素,但水文气象预报是其中不可忽略的一个重要因素”。
