A retrospective analysis of 188 cases of gastrointestinal carcinoid patients with complete clinical and histological data from 1970 to 1987 at the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center was performed to investigate the prognostic factors. Carcinoids account for 1% of cancers, which is relatively rare. According to the literature selection group, the 5-year survival rate of carcinoids is 18% to 94%.
