This article analyzes and expounds the cultural characteristics of modernist art. In view of the rational spirit of enlightenment and the resulting skepticism and nihilism, modernism devotes itself to the reconstruction of cultural values and is therefore anti-modern in spiritual tendencies. The other In terms of modernist art, conforming to the requirements of modernity, it adopts the position of technicalism and linguistics in terms of its form of expression and continues its tradition of rebellion in a constantly updated and changing form. This contradiction dominates the trajectory of modernism: early modernist artists based their exploration of language on the basis of essentialism or ontology in an attempt to expand or rebuild an ideal world through the visual field of art. However, when the modernist art completely freed itself from its interest in the world and eventually exhausted its formal possibilities, it declared its own end.
