The study explores the functional differences between Chinese characters’ glyphs, pronunciation and sense of meaning in the two hemispheres of the brain. Experiment 1 used the same “Chinese character pairs” to stimulate the materials. The three groups of subjects performed glyph, phonetic and mean / different judgments respectively. The results showed that both the response time and the correct response rate showed that both glyph, phonetic, A cerebral hemisphere, showing the “complex brain effect” of Chinese characters. In experiment 2, we used the concept of “Chinese characters - graphics” to integrate and judge the subject to further test the “compound brain effect” of word-sense cognition. The result is the same as experiment one. The author believes that the “complex brain effect” of Chinese characters cognition is inseparable from the character itself.
