American physicians have reported successful use of a new method for the treatment of digoxin toxicity. They developed a specific digoxin antibody to reverse life-threatening digoxin poisoning. This new technique involves the use of digoxin antibody fragments (ie, Fab fragments) isolated from immunized sheep. It has been reported in the literature that this antibody has a high affinity and specificity for digoxin.
